CBAI - Annual Scholarship Program

The Community Bankers Association of Illinois has established the CBAI Foundation for Community Banking in furtherance of the CBAI mission to professionally serve and support member banks through every available channel, and to promote the community banking philosophy.

The following is a  CBAI sponsored scholarship program:

Annual Scholarship Program - With college tuitions rising every year, these statewide scholarships help deserving young adults to further their educations and develop tommorrow's leaders. Open to Illinois high school seniors.
 Deadline for entry is 2/11/08.

Annual Scholarship Program

The CBAI Foundation for Community Banking offers 13 scholarships to top high school seniors statewide each year. The scholarship awards available this year by the Foundation total $16,500. These scholarship awards help deserving students highlight the importance of community banking to the local economy. You could win up to $4,000 for higher education, and your school is eligible to win $500!

Essays must be sponsored by a participating CBAI member bank. For information about a local member bank, email bobbiw@cbai.com

This year's topic: "What sets community banks apart from the large banks?"

Judging criteria are:

  • understanding of community banking philosophy
  • accurate information
  • clear and concise sentences
  • logical organization
  • proper grammar
  • correct punctuation and spelling
  • conclusion/summary.

Kaskaskia College Foundation Germantown Trust & Savings Bank Endowed Scholarship

The Board of Directors of Germantown Trust & Savings Bank have long been committed to quality education.  Education of area youth is a high priority for the bank.  “A good education is even more important in today’s world.”

The following criteria are established for the award:

  • Applicants must be 1) residents of Clinton County who intend to continue to reside in this area and 2) graduates of Breese Central or Mater Dei High Schools.
  • Applicants may pursue any course of study as long as they are working toward a certificate or degree.
  • Applicants will be judged on overall grade-point average; service to school, community, or church; and family need.
  • There are 2 awards for $600 each.  The award will be credited to the recipient’s account for tuition and fees only.
  • Applications are available at Breese Central and Mater Dei High Schools, or visit the website at www.kaskaskia.edu/scholarships*.
